Dear Scouts and Friends of Minsi Trails Council,

We write to all of you providing assurance about Minsi Trails Council and its Scouting mission and programs.

Earlier today, the national Boy Scouts of America entity (BSA-National) commenced a chapter 11 reorganization case in order to achieve two goals: (i) equitable treatment of all persons who in the past experienced sexual abuse in connection with Scouting and (ii) a financial reorganization of BSA-National that provides for both sexual abuse victim recoveries and the continuation of BSA-National’s Scouting mission and programs.

Minsi Trails Council is supportive of BSA-National’s chapter 11 goals. However, to be clear, Minsi Trails Council (like all other local councils nationwide) is not in chapter 11, and is not “in bankruptcy”.

During BSA-National’s chapter 11 case, Minsi Trails Council will continue, without interruption, all our council’s Scouting programs and activities. All local summer camps, local district and council activities, volunteer and youth training, operations of the Scout Service Center and store, and other council and professional support of Scouting will continue as in the past.

Minsi Trails Council is locally governed and operated through an executive board comprised of local community members and Scouters, along with a staff of all local residents. Programs and services are delivered through the hard work and effort of over 3,000 local volunteers within our local six-county service area.

In the coming days, weeks, and months you may receive additional information, communications and updates about BSA-National’s chapter 11 case.

Please be assured that Minsi Trails Council remains committed to Scouting’s success at all levels, including--most importantly--your continued involvement in Scouting and Minsi Trails Council.

Sincerely,

Rick                                    Jim                                     Tamie
