Trail to Town Camporee

June 17-19, 2022 Northampton District Wind Gap Park

Wind Gap Borough, an Appalachian Trail Community, is joining the Northampton District of Minsi Trails Council to host the Trail to Town Camporee.

This event is designed to highlight the Appalachian Trail while offering outstanding scouting activities to its participants.

On Saturday, Minsi Trails will host a recruiting event and invite Cub Pack Units to join the fun from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at no cost.

See Flyer for Schedule

Trail to Town Offers Three Different Camper Experiences

Base Camper Participant – The Base Camper Adventure introduces basic scout skills. It offers opportunities for scouts to develop first-aid, navigation, and nature skills to fulfill rank requirements for tenderfoot, second class and first class.

Base Camper Youth Instructor – This is for scouts who are first class or higher and not participating in the Backpacker Adventure Program. These scouts volunteer as Youth Instructors for the Base Camper program, teaching basic scout skills. First Class scouts will have the opportunity to complete the Cyber Chip requirements and Star scouts will complete Life Rank Requirement #6.

Backpacker Adventure – The Backpacker Adventure offers a backpacking experience, geared for first class scouts and higher. The next morning, Backpackers prepare breakfast, break down camp, load their packs and board a bus that will transport them to Fox Gap. They will spend the day on the AT hiking from Fox Gap to Wind Gap. The 10 mile Trail to Town hike will return to Wind Gap Park after about 6 hours on the trail.

Registration Open Until June 10, 2022

Cost – No direct cost per scout. A $20 registration fee per unit includes unlimited number of participants. Units are responsible for their own food. Unit registration fee includes use of facility, patch, & transportation.

Contact Information – Joe Kondisko Camporee Director trailtotowncamporee@gmail.com

Adult Leadership – Leadership is essential to camporee success. Each unit must provide a supporting adult leader to programs they have participating scouts.

Registration – Units register through the Minsi Trails Doubleknot registration system.
